
Dr Bilal Gafoor is a Pulmonologist, Physician and Intensivist with over 15 years of experience in the medical field.
In 2002, he graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of the Witwatersrand. After that, he qualified as a Specialist Physician (Internal Medicine) registered with the Health Professions Council Of South Africa (HPCSA). In 2012, he completed a Certificate in Pulmonary Medicine (SA) from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA).
In 2006, he became a Registrar in Internal Medicine, with rotations at different hospitals. He worked in various departments, including the following; Intensive Care Medicine /Pulmonology, General Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine/Coronary Care Unit, Gastroenterology, Geriatric Medicine and Rheumatology.
In 2010, he worked as a Junior Consultant and Subspecialist Trainee at the Department of Pulmonology and Critical Care at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital. In 2012, he stayed on at the hospital as a Consultant Pulmonologist/Intensivist. Dr Bilal Gafoor currently runs a Private Practice as Pulmonologist/Specialist Physician at Melomed in Gatesville, Cape Town.
When he is not working as a Doctor, he spends time as an Honorary Lecturer at Nelson Mandela School Of Medicine, University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. He also works as an Examiner in several foreign graduate and undergraduate medical examinations.
His special interests include general Pulmonology, Critical care and Intensivist procedures, and respiratory issues.
